Tiaan heads back on Tour

PUBLISHED: March 25, 2008

Vodacom Stormers hooker Tiaan Liebenberg, who withdrew ahead of the Reds clash three weeks ago, has been declared fit and will head to Perth to rejoin his team today.

He was originally named on the bench for the Reds match in Brisbane, but the results from an MRI scan confirmed a moderate muscle strain injury to his left thigh.

Vodacom Stormers wing Joe Pietersen has sustained a hamstring injury and will return home this week.

Stormers to the rescue

The staff of the Quantas flight between Sydney and Perth called on the assistance of the Stormers to help subdue an unruly passenger at the back of the plane. Initially Vodacom Stormers defense coach Brendan Venter tried to reason with the passenger, without much success. The quiet but sizable prop Wicus Blaauw was called in to assist and managed to “persuade” the passenger to calm down.

Police boarded the plane in Perth and arrested the passenger.

The Stormers were officially thanked by the crew.
