Conrad and Tondi make a welcome return

PUBLISHED: March 28, 2007

Vodacom Stormers Conrad Jantjes and Tonderai Chavhanga will make a welcome return to the playing field when they form part of a formidable Vodacom WP attack against SWD Eagles at Newlands on Saturday.

Vodacom WP coach Gary Gold has made several changes to his team, who find themselves at the top of the South Section Log in the Vodacom Cup competition. Vodacom Stormers looseforward Joe van Niekerk, who as a late replacement for Pieter Myburgh following a car accident on the Friday before their Boland clash, will once again take his place at the back of the scrum.

“We have made a number of changes to this week’s side,” said Gary Gold. “We have been operating in a squad system since the beginning of the season and there are a number of players who have been training hard and deserve a chance to play.

“Certain guys who have played every game so far are sore and we feel this is a good time in the competition to rotate players. The side we are fielding against the Eagles is still a very strong one as we are certainly not underestimating SWD.”

Gold added,” Our aim this week is to get maximum points from this game as this will put us top of the log which was one of our pre-season goals which we hoped to achieve.”
