Coetzee happy with DHL Stormers win

PUBLISHED: February 27, 2011

Allister from the post match presser v the Lions Allister Coetzee declared himself very happy with the DHL Stormers win. “You can rectify mistakes and system errors but you can’t coach guts, never giving up and refusal to be defeated. “said the coach whilst also giving due credit to the Lions side that “really came out to play”.

“Derby games are always tough affairs – our guys did well to hold them out. A bye in the first week is not ideal and we looked a little rusty, but when it counted we managed to pull it through, that might not have happened a few seasons ago, but this team has matured and gained experience.” Added the coach.

Coetzee also expressed his satisfaction with the performances of the 5 young debutants who all saw some game time.”They all did well in their first outings. At the end of the day it’s about the 22 though and I am comfortable we have a good balance between youth and experience.”

Jean De Villiers adding a little lightness to the post match press conference quipped, “We are very happy. It’s our best start ever, we have 8 log points from 1 game”.

Next up the Cheetahs.
