WP Rugby today met with key operational event role-players with regard to incidents of poor behaviour from within certain quarters of the DHL Newlands crowd during Saturday’s Vodacom Super Rugby clash between the DHL Stormers and the Crusaders.
Rob Wagner, WP Rugby MD, said: “There seems to be a history of incidents when the DHL Stormers and the Crusaders play at DHL Newlands. We would again like to apologise to any members of the crowd who were inconvenienced in any way on Saturday.
“We will never condone bad behaviour from anyone in the crowd at DHL Newlands and are committed to ensuring that DHL Newlands remains an enjoyable rugby venue for all members of the rugby-watching public.”
Speaking further after Tuesday’s meeting, Wagner added: “As such, we are happy that the issues were openly interrogated and that solutions were tabled by all operational event role-players.
“WP rugby will implement the operational recommendations tabled this morning and will also engage with role players like the broadcaster and SANZAR, as to other recommendations for future DHL Stormers v Crusaders fixtures at DHL Newlands.”
