Sharks to up game against Stormers

PUBLISHED: January 27, 2010

Sharks coach John Plumtree played down the result of Game 2 of the Neo Africa Tri-Series at Newlands last night, saying “To be honest I didn’t expect much.

We have a number of injuries and many of the boys are still rusty. The new rules and the number of penalties was also disruptive. The game forms part of our structured preparation.”

“The Force clearly wanted it more than us by having got a bit of a hiding on Saturday.”

“We were exposed in a few areas, especially at the breakdown where we were under committed. The Force showed us counter-rucking was important and that you still need numbers to the breakdown,” Plumtree commented.

“The second half was definitely better and certain individuals showed good form. It’s still early for us and Friday’s final game against the Stormers is an important one for us.”
