New signings Pieter-Steph du Toit, Jano Vermaak and JC Janse van Rensburg will all make their first appearances at DHL Newlands in a DHL Stormers jersey in the pre-season friendly against the Jaguares on Saturday.
DHL Stormers Head Coach Robbie Fleck has named a 31-man squad for the encounter with the team from Argentina who are newcomers to Vodacom Super Rugby this season.
The friendly will be the last chance for the squad to test themselves ahead of the first Vodacom Super Rugby match of the season against the Vodacom Bulls at DHL Newlands on Saturday, February 27.
Fleck said that the focus will be on making the most of the opportunity to execute what they have been working on in a tough pre-season.
“We are just over two weeks off from that opening game against the Vodacom Bulls, and we want to use this chance to ensure we are able to make a strong start to the season.
The DHL Stormers coach is expecting a serious test in all departments against a Jaguares team that boasts a number of prominent Argentina internationals such as Nicolás Sánchez, Santiago Cordero, Juan Manuel Leguizamón, and captain Agustín Creevy.
“This Jaguares side is a powerful outfit who will be keen to show that they will be a force to be reckoned with this season, so they will be a great test to see where we are at two weeks from the start of the season,” he said.
Tickets for the match are R50 each with season tickets not valid, and are available from any Computicket outlet, via www.iamastormer.com and the stadium box office, supporters are encouraged to book tickets early to avoid queues on match-day. The match will not be televised.
