0 – Kick-off in cool and still conditions at DHL Newlands as the DHL Stormers start their final home game of Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked against the Toyota Cheetahs at DHL Newlands.
2 – DHL Stormers get on the front foot early, with an attacking line-out followed by an attackinbg scrum in the Cheetahs’ 22
5 – The scrum wins advantage and the DHL Stormers go wide as Angelo Davids is brought down just short. Herschel Jantjies spots some space on the blindside and he darts over for the opening try to put them 5-0 up after 6 mins at DHL Newlands.
10 – After absorbing some pressure on defence the DHL Stormers launch again from a strong scrum, but the opposition win a penalty at the breakdown as Salmaan Moerat is siolated.
13 – The Toyota Cheetahs come close, but the DHL Stormers defence holds out well and forces a knock-on just outside the 22.
20 – The DHL Stormers back on the front foot and earn a series of attacking scrums in the 22 which eventually result in three points from the boot of Damian Willemse to take their lead out to 10-0 after the opening 20 mins at DHL Newlands.
25 – The Toyota Cheetahs on the attack again as they go deep into the 22, but some resolte defence by Angelo Davids and JD Schickerling sees the ball knocked loose to give the DHL Stormers the scrum.
30 – The DHL Stormers come from their own line, holding off a maul and then forcing the Cheetahs backwards. The ball is turned over and Dan du Plessis kicks ahead. The Cheetahs scramble back and manage to clear just in time.
33 – Some impressive defensive work from the DHL Stormers, but Toyota Cheetahs flyhalf Tian Schoeman gets his team on the scoreboard at DHL Newlands with a penalty to reduce the DHL Stormers’ lead to 10-3.
40 – Damian Willemse casually slots a drop-goal from long range and that is half-time at DHL Newlands where the DHL Stormers take a 13-3 lead into the break against the Toyota Cheetahs. Solid opening 40 mins, now to back that up in the second half.
44 – The Toyota Cheetahs are first to score in the second half at DHL Newlands with a penalty from flyhalf Tian Schoeman which reduces DHL Stormers lead to 13-6 with 36 mins left.
46 – Some incredible stepping from Warrick Gelant puts Ruhan Nel in space. It is worked back to Scarra Ntubeni who surges and then gets it away to Juarno Augustus who is over. That takes the DHL Stormers lead out to 20-6 with 34 mins left at DHL Newlands.
53 – Some more good defence from the DHL Stormers as they hold out in their 22 again. Both teams looking for territory to launch from without managing to find the breakthrough.
60 – With 20 minutes left at DHL Newlands the visitors are pushing hard as they look for a way back in the game. The DHL Stormers are being forced to defend, but are holding out well.
65 – Counter-attack from the visitors and the ball sits up perfectly for wing Rosko Specman, who finishes impressively in the corner in front of the empty Railway Stand at DHL Newlands. That reduces DHL Stormers lead to 20-13.
70 – Another big scrum from the forwards after they had been camped in front of the poles and the penalty is slotted by Damian Willemse to take the DHL Stormers lead out to 23-13.
76 – A big scrum, a strong maul and the DHL Stormers go into the 22. It comes on the blindside for Willemse who flicks an offload while airborne through for Warrick Gelant to score. What a try, that takes the lead out to 30-13.
80 – The Toyita Cheetahs press hard at the end, but the DHL Stormers defence holds out well to seal a 30-13 win which puts them back in second place on the standings.
