Gerber in line for 50th cap

PUBLISHED: April 8, 2004

Should Hendrik Gerber come off the bench this weekend against the Reds, he will be celebrating his 50th game for the Investec Stormers.

The dependable flanker made his debut during the 1999 Super 12 season, against the Bulls. Gerber also played 68 games for Investec Western Province and is one of the most underrated flanker in the country.

His partnership with Corne Krige is a proven one and has won many a game for the Stormers and WP. Gerber is not only an excellent competitor for the ball on the ground, but he has scored many tries for both the Stormers and WP thanks to his ball-carrying abilities.

Although there is tough competition for the loose-forwards berths at both teams with players such as Krige, Schalk Burger, Pierre Uys and soon Joe van Niekerk vying for three positions in the starting lineup, Gerber is a loyal team man who always puts the cause of the team first.
