DHL Stormers star Juan de Jongh and Lions flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff will not be considered for selection for Saturday’s Castle Lager Incoming Series Test against Wales in Durban because of illness and injury.
De Jongh was admitted to a Durban hospital on Sunday evening with a severe chest infection.
The DHL Stormers centre will in all likelihood only be discharged by Wednesday and will not be ready to take on Wales this weekend.
Boshoff, meanwhile, rolled his ankle at training in Cape Town last week.
The Lions No.10 has a grade one ankle sprain and the Springbok medical team are hopeful that he would be able to start training again late this week.
A decision on both players’ further involvement in the Castle Lager Incoming Series will only be taken at a later stage and they will remain with the squad for the time being.
