The DHL Dancers thrilled the DHL Newlands crowd in their new-look outfits in Saturday’s Vodacom Super Rugby encounter between the DHL Stormers and the Chiefs.
The new outfits were the culmination of a design contest with FEDISA, South Africa’s leading institute for a BA Degree in Fashion Design. Students were given the brief to come up with a new, exciting ensemble for the ladies, which would set them apart from the rest of the rugby field.
The DHL Design a Dancer contest was aimed to promote local fashion design and ensure that DHL and Western Province Rugby supports the local community in designing and manufacturing the garments.
The winner, in the end, was Jode Venter and the runners-up were Alana Dynowski and Alison Schwabe – all of whom were present at today’s exciting match, won 36-34 by the Stormers, and they received cash prizes for their efforts!
Well done to Jode, Alana and Alison and thanks to FEDISA for their help and enthusiasm in the DHL Design a Dancer contest.
