PUBLISHED: May 15, 2004

WP Rugby Pty Ltd on Saturday announced that Investec Stormers and South African international Selborne Boome has signed a two year deal with Northampton RFC.

Selborne will leave Cape Town following the cessation of his contract with the Investec Stormers. He did not sign with WP Rugby for the Absa Currie Cup this year, after deciding earlier to further his career overseas.

Selborne is excited at the prospect of joining Northampton Rugby: ‘I am very happy to be joining Northampton Rugby. It is sure to be a great experience and I am looking forward to working with Alan Solomons again.

” I have been fortunate to have had the experience of starting my rugby career in South Africa (at Stellenbosch University) and also thoroughly enjoyed my time in France with Montferrand.

“It has been great to be back with WP Rugby and the Stormers and I enjoy the type of rugby they play and the team environment.

“It will be sad to leave South Africa again but I’m looking forward to the opportunity in the UK.”

Rob Wagner, MD of WP Rugby Pty Ltd, added,” Selborne goes with our blessing and good wishes for the future. He has always given of his best for Investec WP and the Stormers and his presence and experience will be missed on and off the field.”

Selborne and his wife Catherine will leave for England after the Vodacom Super 12.
