Bolla back for Vodacom Stormers

PUBLISHED: May 3, 2007

Bolla Conradie is back in the Vodacom Stormers starting line-up for Saturday’s final Vodacom Super 14 match against the Sharks at Newlands.

Conradie’s return is one of three changes to the team that took the field against the Reds at Newlands last Saturday.

Corné Uys takes over from Jean de Villiers at outside centre. De Villiers was ruled out with a wrist injury that could keep him out of the game for up to six weeks.

Stormers coach Kobus van der Merwe said the star midfielder visited a specialist and received a cast for the wrist. “His wrist will be stabilised over the next three to four weeks.

“He would probably miss the first two tests against England.”

Utility back Dylan des Fountain takes Uys’ place on the substitutes’ bench.

The only change to the pack sees the return of hooker Schalk Brits to the starting line-up. He replaces Tiaan Liebenberg, who reverts to the bench.

Commenting on the return of Conradie at scrumhalf in place of JP Joubert, Van der Merwe said: “Bolla deserves a chance.

“He worked hard at the aspects of his game we felt he should improve on, particularly in terms of the quickness of his service. There already was a major improvement when he went on against the Reds on Saturday.”
